Privacy Policy

Overview

Moto (“the App”) is a habit tracking app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android, developed by RailsSquad OU (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy explains what data Moto handles, what leaves your device, and how to turn it off. In short: your habits never leave your device or your own iCloud. We collect anonymous usage events to improve the app and to measure our ads, and you can switch that off in one tap.

Your Habits Stay on Your Device

Habits, completion records, notes, preferences and settings are stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that receive, store or process your habit data, and we never see it.

Voice input is turned into text and habits on your device. On iPhone, iPad and Mac, Moto uses Apple's on-device speech recognition and language models. On Android, it uses your device's speech recognition service, which runs on-device when your phone supports it, and Gemini Nano on-device to create the habits. We never receive your recordings or what you say.

iCloud Sync (Pro, Apple devices)

On iPhone, iPad and Mac, if you enable iCloud sync (a Pro feature), your data is synced through your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. We never have access to your iCloud data. The Android app does not sync, so your data stays on your phone.

Anonymous Usage Analytics

To understand which features are used and where the app breaks, Moto sends anonymous usage events to Amplitude, an analytics provider, stored on its servers in the European Union. Events look like “habit created”, “tab opened” or “purchase completed”, together with the app version, device model, operating system, language, and an approximate location (city and country) that Amplitude derives from your IP address.

Events are tied to a random identifier created by the app, not to your name, email, Apple Account or Google Account. They never include the names or content of your habits.

Ad Measurement (iPhone and iPad)

We advertise Moto on Instagram and Facebook. To know whether those ads work, the iPhone and iPad app uses the Meta SDK to report a small set of events to Meta Platforms: the app being installed and opened, onboarding being completed, the upgrade screen being shown, and purchases (which plan, its price and currency).

Moto does not ask for permission to track you and does not share your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). Meta receives these events without your identity and matches them to ads only in aggregate, through Apple's privacy-preserving attribution (SKAdNetwork). We do not use this data to follow you across other apps or websites. Meta processes it under its own privacy policy. The Mac and Android apps do not include the Meta SDK.

Turning It Off

Open Settings in Moto and switch off “Help us improve Moto”. This stops both usage analytics and ad measurement immediately. Moto works exactly the same either way.

Data We Never Collect

• Your name, email address or phone number
• The names, notes or history of your habits
• Voice recordings or transcripts
• Precise location
• Contacts, photos or health data
• Your advertising identifier (IDFA on Apple devices, Advertising ID on Android)

Purchases

Pro upgrades are processed entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment information. Transaction records are managed by Apple or Google.

Data Export & Deletion

You can export all your habit data at any time from the app's settings. To delete it, uninstall the app. If you use iCloud sync, you can remove synced data in your iCloud account settings. Analytics events are not linked to your identity, so we usually cannot single out yours, but you can write to us and we will do what we can.

Children's Privacy

Moto is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. The app does not require an account.

Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

We process anonymous usage and ad measurement events on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving Moto and understanding our advertising, and you can object at any time with the switch above. We do not sell personal information. If you are in the EU, the UK or California, you can ask us about the data we hold, and you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
